
CODE OF CONDUCT / LEARNER AGREEMENT
This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for all learners participating in Norton Arts training programs, including all A.S.P.I.R.E.™ programs and training services, online modules, in-person sessions, coaching elements, and all related learning activities.
By enrolling in any Norton Arts program, learners agree to the standards of behaviour, professionalism, and respect described in this document.
1. PURPOSE OF THIS CODE
The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to:

Support a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment

Promote trauma-aware and person-centered interactions
-
Ensure professional behaviour during training
-
Protect the integrity of training materials and intellectual property
-
Clarify expectations for learners and organizations
This Code applies to all learners, whether enrolled individually or through an organizational license.
2. RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOUR
Learners are expected to:

Treat all instructors and other learners with respect
-
Communicate politely and professionally
-
Honour diverse backgrounds, identities, experiences, and perspectives

Avoid discriminatory, harassing, or aggressive behaviour
-
Maintain confidentiality in discussions or reflective exercises
Any threatening, abusive, or harmful communication may result in removal from the program.
3. TRAUMA-AWARE PARTICIPATION
Norton Arts maintains a trauma-aware learning environment. Learners agree to:

Engage at their own pace

Honour their own emotional boundaries
-
Use grounding and regulation strategies when needed
-
Reach out for support if overwhelmed
At no time will learners be pressured to disclose personal experiences or trauma.
4. PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT DURING TRAINING
Learners must:

Use training materials for personal or assigned professional development only
-
Participate honestly in assessments and reflective activities
-
Avoid misrepresenting training completion or certification
-
Follow all instructions related to safety during in-person training
-
Communicate accommodation needs as early as possible
Organizations are responsible for ensuring their employees follow this Code when participating under a corporate license.
5. PROHIBITED CONDUCT
The following actions are not permitted:

Sharing account access or passwords
-
Copying, distributing, or reproducing any course materials
-
Uploading Norton Arts content to external platforms
-
Using training materials to teach or coach others
-
Recording or distributing videos or live sessions without permission
-
Discriminatory, harassing, or harmful communication
-
Misuse of intellectual property
-
Any attempt to bypass seat licenses or organizational restrictions
Violation of these terms may result in termination of access without refund.
6. CONFIDENTIALITY AND PRIVACY
Learners must:

Protect the confidentiality of other participants
-
Avoid sharing screenshots, personal stories, or reflections outside the learning environment
-
Respect privacy during both online and in-person components
-
Follow the Training Privacy & Data Policy at all times
Personal reflective submissions are treated confidentially and are not shared with employers unless explicit written permission is provided by the learner.
7. SAFETY IN SELF-PROTECTION ACTIVITIES
For programs that include Self-Defence Essentials or physical demonstrations:
Learners agree to:

Participate only to their own physical ability
-
Follow instructor guidance and safety rules
-
Avoid applying techniques on others outside the structured training environment
-
Notify the instructor of injuries or limitations
-
Practice safely and responsibly
Safety is the top priority. Any unsafe behaviour will result in removal from the physical component.
8. HONEST REPRESENTATION OF CERTIFICATION
Learners may:

State that they have completed A.S.P.I.R.E.™ training
-
List CPD hours on their résumé or professional portfolio
-
Present certificates to employers or HR for verification
Learners may not:
-
Claim to be certified to teach or deliver A.S.P.I.R.E.™ (whether or not future instructor certifications exist)

Represent completion of the program as conferring instructor-level authority
-
Use any A.S.P.I.R.E.™ content for coaching, consulting, instructional work, or professional training without a formal instructor license granted by Norton Arts
Certificates represent completion of training, not authorization to teach, certify others, deliver program content, or act as an instructor.
9. COMMUNICATION WITH NORTON ARTS
Learners agree to communicate with Norton Arts in:

A respectful and professional manner

Good faith when seeking help or clarification

Accordance with the Complaints & Appeals Procedure, where applicable
Abusive or threatening communication will not be tolerated.
10. COMPLIANCE WITH LICENSING TERMS
All learners must comply with:

Individual licensing restrictions
-
Organizational seat pack licensing
-
Annual organizational license terms
-
All intellectual property protections outlined in the Terms of Use
Non-compliance may result in account suspension, legal action, or revocation of access without refund.
11. CONSEQUENCES OF CODE VIOLATIONS
If a learner violates this Code of Conduct:

Access may be suspended or terminated
-
Certificates may not be issued
-
Seat licenses may be revoked
-
Organizations may be notified if training was employer-funded
-
Refunds will not be provided
Serious violations (e.g., harassment, harmful behaviour, IP theft) may result in permanent removal from all Norton Arts programs.
12. AGREEMENT TO THIS CODE
By participating in any Norton Arts training program, learners acknowledge and agree to this Code of Conduct / Learner Agreement. Continued access to the Services constitutes acceptance of all terms listed above.
